Hurricane Eta Emergency Relief

The Problem:

In November of 2020, a category 4 hurricane, Hurricane Eta, struck the northern Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua. This hurricane left in its wake, floods from rising rivers, landslides, fallen trees and electric poles, and destroyed many homes. This destruction made a devastating impact on many families in Nicaragua, especially to those from the lower socioeconomic strata who were already marginalized and barely surviving prior to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The Solution:

The Hurricane Eta Emergency Relief project was designed to provide immediate relief to the families impacted by the devastating effects of Hurricane Eta. This project was able to provide packages of food, medicine, hygiene products, and daily essentials to over 1,300 families – more than 5,500 individuals. Additionally, this project supplied over 500 individuals living in shelters with necessary supplies as well. In total, the Hurricane Eta Emergency Relief project was able to provide immediate relief to 10 different communities.
